| Our Mission: | ||
| To foster an open, pluralistic, and scholarly approach to the pressing and often divisive issues of science and religion that affect our city, state, nation, and world. | ||
| Who we are: | ||
The Isthmus Society is a local network of scientists, scholars, religious leaders, and interested community members who seek to cultivate open and lively conversation at the intersections of the sciences and diverse religious traditions. To pursue this end, the society sponsors public events and lectures by leading thinkers in fields variously related to science and religion and also supports local discussion groups for informal discussion and exchange. In line with the pluralism stated in our mission, the Isthmus Society eagerly desires participation from voices spanning the intellectual, theological, and religious spectrum. We are a completely non-sectarian organization affiliated with the University of Wisconsin and administered within the College of Letters & Sciences as a project of the Lubar Institute for the Study of the Abrahamic Religions. The Isthmus Society is also part of the international Local Societies Network of the Metanexus Institute. |
